As a non-profit agency, Circle of Caring at Hospice of the Good Shepherd is governed by a community based volunteer Board of Directors. The Hospice Board members serve on specialty committees to ensure that the Hospice staff is recommending and implementing policies consistent with its mission.

Leanne Berge, Esq.
Board President
Leanne joined the Board in 2007. A resident of Newton Centre, she brings 20 years of managed care experience, ranging from legal services to operations and network development. Prior to her current position she was the Senior Vice President of Network Services and Operations at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Presently, as vice president of strategic planning and business development at Network Health, Leanne is responsible for providing leadership for Network Health's new business lines and its relationship with state government and regulatory agencies for existing business lines.

 

Daun Anderson, Ph.D.
Vice President
Daun has been a member of the Board since 2005. She is a neighbor to the Hospice, residing in Waban Village of Newton. She has an extensive background in marketing and business management and is currently a Professor of Business at Becker College.
Ellen Webster Leiter
A health care executive with 17 years of senior-level experience across a variety of health care settings, Ellen is the Director of Critical Care at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Previously, Ellen was Executive Director of Healthcare Dimensions Hospice for 8 years and Chief Nursing Officer and Executive Vice President of Operations at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham for 2 years. A Wellesley resident, Ellen has been a member of the Hospice Board since 2007 and Vice President since 2008.

 

Stephen J. Campbell
Treasurer
Stephen has been a member of the Board since 2003; currently serving as Treasurer as well as Chair of the Finance Committee. A financial advisor for over thirty years, Stephen is a Vice President of Investments with Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in Boston, MA. Stephen resides in Wellesley.

 

Eliot T. Putnam, Jr.
Clerk
Eliot has been a member of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd Board of Directors for more than 12 years and served as its President from 2000-2004. Serving in the Peace Corps in the early 1960s launched Eliot on a career path in international development, primarily in the area of public health. Eliot has managed reproductive health, primary care and HIV prevention programs and for the past 13 years has served as an independent consultant to such programs in the field, including extensive overseas experience. Eliot lives in Wellesley.

 

Stephanie Fidel
Our newest member, Stephanie Fidel joined the Circle of Caring at Hospice of the Good Shepherd Board in 2010. Managing Associate at Isaacson Miller, Stephanie joined the firm in 1995 after more than ten years of experience in academic medicine administration in Boston. She was the first External Affairs Officer at Harvard Medical School, where she helped define, articulate, and advance the interests of the Medical School’s broad constituency to state and federal and government officials. After leaving the Medical School in 1991, she became the Administrator of the Medical Postgraduate Division in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital. A graduate of the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Stephanie also earned her master's degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Stephanie resides in Newton with her husband Mark Huberman, a medical oncologist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

 

Helene Fuchs, MBA, MEd
Helene joined the Board in 2009, bringing an extensive background in health care management and experience in delivery of care, managed care and clinical practice. A health care consultant since 1989, she has been an adjunct faculty member at Brandeis University’s Heller Graduate School and Marketing Manager for the Medical Group Division at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. A resident of Boston, Helene is a participant in the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers Consultant Program, The Massachusetts Medical Society’s Qualified Network of Attorneys and Consultants and is a member of The Massachusetts Health Data Consortium. She is also a member of the Simmons College School of Management Entrepreneurship Program Advisory Board and chairs the Networking Committee. Currently, Helene is Principal of HF Associates, a virtual company providing applied research and strategy services in health care delivery, corporate, and academic settings.

Barbara Hernberg
Barbara has served as a member of Hospice of the Good Shepherd Board of Directors since 1982. A Wellesley resident, Barbara worked at Wellesley College for 17 years and is retired from her position as Administrative Director of the Wellesley Centers for Women.

 

Jim Hooley, MSW
Jim joined Hospice of the Good Shepherd in 2006 as the agency’s Interim Executive Director. Upon completion of this role, he joined the Board of Directors in 2007. Jim has extensive experience in health care management, having served for 20 years as President and CEO of Neighborhood Health Plan. Presently a Health Care Consultant with a general focus on Medicaid managed care, strategic planning, executive coaching and marketing, Jim serves in leadership positions on a number of Boards of Directors of health care-related organizations in the Boston area. Jim is a Duxbury resident.

 

Richard H. Snow, CPA
Dick has been a member of the Hospice Board since 1994 and served as Board President from 2004-2007. A West Newton resident for many years, Dick has over 25 years of experience in both private industry and public accounting. Dick is founding partner of the accounting firm Clarke, Snow & Riley and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he has served on several committees.

 

Jiaqi Tao
Jiaqi joined the Board in 2007. Residing in West Roxbury, Jiaqi is presently the Chief Financial Officer of East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. Previously, he was CFO of Dorchester House Multi-Service Center and was the Billing and Financial Manager for Hospice of Central New York in the early 1990s. He has an extensive background in the financial management of non-profit agencies. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and a Board Member of New England Eye Institute.

 

Maurice Weinrobe, Ph.D.
Maury has volunteered for Hospice of the Good Shepherd since 2002 and joined the Board of Directors in 2006.  A Professor of Economics at Clark University since 1976, Maury has held various positions on the faculty, including Chair of the Department of Economics, Associate Provost and Chair of the Faculty Assembly. Maury’s teaching interests include monetary economics, economic demography and the economics of housing finance.
