Circle of Caring at Hospice of the Good Shepherd was the first hospice in the country to implement a program for Nurse Practitioners to prescribe medications for hospice clients under the supervision of our Medical Director. The benefits of this program are immeasurable. At Hospice, we are available for our clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Often times, reaching clients’ primary care physicians after hours can be difficult and time consuming. Having the ability for our Nurse Practitioners to prescribe medications allows our hospice team to respond and attend to our clients’ pain and symptom management needs in a more timely manner.
