Circle of Caring at Hospice of the Good Shepherd is proud to be a participating organization in the Veterans History Project (VHP).

Created by the United States Congress in 2000 as part of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, the VHP collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations can hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.  U.S. citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts (such as war industry workers, USO workers, flight instructors, medical volunteers, etc.) are also invited to share their valuable stories.  Stories can be told through personal narratives, correspondence and/or visual materials.

As a participating organization, HGS will record the stories of veterans who are hospice clients using an audio or video recorder, assist in collecting photographs, letters, diaries maps, etc., and/or help to write a memoir.  The Hospice will also assist with submission to the Library of Congress.

If you would like additional information about the VHP at HGS, please contact Christina Coffey at (617)969-6130 or by .
